Summer ’18 at the allotments

Plot 15, Pete Benn

Pete has had a fantastic first year at the allotments, with a crop to make any veg grower envious!

Pete took on the allotment plot in May this year, and has worked wonders, installing raised beds and and overcoming the inevitable native self-seeders (weeds).

Image shows: French beans, mange tout, courgettes, Swiss chard, apples, foraged blackberries from the allotment hedgerows,  and a HUGE flowering of oyster mushrooms for the spend oyster mushroom compost we offered.

Plot 9, Kate Gibbs

Kate has also had a great year, this year with coffee grounds/mushroom compost working wonders on her plot this year. She high recommends it, saying “The beef tomato plants, growing outside, have benefited enormously and I’ve never had such a big  yield in the 10 years I’ve been there!!”

Pete Richardson, Permaculture gardener – Stroud

Pete who collects Bisley Community Compost Scheme unsieved compost, says “This year I used your unsieved compost instead of horse manure on the potato bed at my allotment, and my potato crop is the best I’ve ever had”

  1. Volunteers put a pile of BCCS unsieved compost on Sheila Taylor’s plot yesterday 22 September – we’ll be monitoring magnificent vegetables in 2019!!
