Claytonia or Miner’s Lettuce

By: Lesley Greene

CLAYTONIA or Miner’s Lettuce. This is a fabulous salad plant, quite
delicious . It originated North America and was used by the Miners in the
Gold Rush as a prevention against scurvy (hence its common name) .

It is amazingly rich in vitamins – 100 grams contributing 33% of Vitamin C,
22% of Vitamin C and 10 % iron of your daily needs (plus minerals) – amazing
for such a tiny plant.

I accidentally dropped the seed packet into my tray & now have about a
million small plants so if anyone want any let me know!

It also self seeds very readily so is amazingly useful..
